John Hammond is a Consultant with Grahall, LLC. He is a career communication consultant/copywriter with a broad and varied writing and educational background. John has more than 20 years of experience in strategizing, writing, editing and producing customized promotional and educational tools and materials, print and online, for target and mass audiences, whether management, bargaining or non-bargaining. Examples include direct mail, brochures, advertisements, SPDs, newsletters, presentations, white papers, correspondence, and talking points.

John’s experience reflects a special focus on improving employees’ or members’ financial literacy and influencing behavior through workplace communications on total rewards, executive compensation, retirement planning, employee health care and other benefits, performance management and other human resources issues, mergers and acquisitions, and customer service. He has also developed curricula and delivered targeted training, in both academic and business environments, in writing and other communications, meeting facilitation, customer service and management skills.

John has a proven track record in leading communication strategic planning to support client initiatives, accomplish client goals and solve their problems. He is skilled at conducting communication audits, employee or member research, including focus groups and other interactive meetings, to uncover underlying business and people issues, delineate career pathing and company policies, and improve communication flow.

Prior to joining the firm, John worked as a Communication & Education Consultant with Fidelity Investments, where he provided strategic and tactical communication consulting services to Large Company Market clients. He also worked as a Communications Consultant/ Project Manager with William M. Mercer where he managed consulting projects and developed communication campaigns for mid-sized to large clients in a variety of compensation and benefit areas, such as pension and defined contribution plans, health & welfare and flexible benefits.

Prior to Mercer, John also consulted for the former Watson Wyatt Company where he developed communication programs in a range of human resources areas, including compensation, flexible benefits, retirement plans and organizational change, for a variety of clients. He also facilitated research and focus groups with client employee audiences, both management and bargained, resulting in strategic and tactical changes in workplace policies and practices.

Throughout John’s career, he has increased client satisfaction by meeting their stated demand for industry-leading communication consulting support. He has helped develop cutting-edge communication products and services and managed design groups to produce customized materials exceeding client expectations.
John received a B.A. in English from Boston College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in English from Lehigh University where he taught English composition and literature. While with Fidelity, he earned a Registered Representative, Series 7 and Series 66 License. John has written numerous articles on communicating employee benefits, retirement planning, and organizational change and has received several communication awards.
