Alan Nadel is a consultant at Grahall, LLC. For 37 years he has served a diverse range of clients on matters relating to executive and board of directors compensation, employee benefits, retirement programs, and income and estate planning.

In his current practice, Alan advises boards of directors about the design and implementation of executive and director programs, including the strategic, financial, funding, accounting and tax considerations. Also, he represented various companies and senior executives in negotiations concerning employment agreements, severance programs and change-in-control arrangements. Alan also has provided expert testimony in both civil and criminal matters. His current Clients include public and private companies, domestic as well as international.

Prior to Grahall, Alan has been a partner with two accounting firms, including Arthur Andersen LLP where he served as Managing Partner – Human Capital. Previously he was with Price Waterhouse after starting his career at the Internal Revenue Service. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA in Taxation (City University of New York), MS (APC) in Actuarial Science (New York University) and BS in Mathematics (John Carroll University).

Alan is the author of Accounting for Equity Compensation (1st and 2nd editions) and is a contributing author of the Employee Benefits Handbook, The Stock Options Book and Executive Compensation in ESOP Companies. He has lectured on Executive Compensation at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, New York University School of Law, Yale University Law School and the City University of New York Graduate Program. Alan has led in-house training for a number of companies including AT&T, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Neuberger Berman, Pitney Bowes and Estee Lauder Company. He has served as an expert advisor to the Financial Accounting Standards Board and testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce. He is a frequent speaker to professional and industry groups worldwide, has been quoted in various business publications and newspapers, and has appeared on a number of national television business programs.

Alan’s board memberships include the American Benefits Council, the Certified Equity Professional Institute and the New York Employee Benefits Group. His editorial board affiliations include the Compensation Planning Journal, the Journal of Compensation and Benefits and the Journal of Retirement Planning.
